Julie Carew
Julie earned a degree in Cello performance at the Hartt School and a Masters degree in Cello Performance with Suzuki Pedagogy Emphasis at the Univerity of Denver.
Julie recently returned to her home state of Massachusetts after several years of teaching and performing in Denver, Colorado (and she definitely misses all of her Denver cellist friends!) She was a member of the Denver String Quartet and the musical director for Destination Freedom: Black Radio Days, an old-time radio show broadcast out of Boulder. She founded a string program called City Strings, providing private and group lessons to students who might not otherwise have had the opportunity to play a string instrument, maintained a large private studio and was a faculty member of the Denver Talent Education Program. She currently maintains positions as a faculty member of Strictly Strings, a chamber music camp for string players and, of course, the Rocky Mountain Cello Fest.
Having returned to the Boston area, Julie is now working as a string teacher in the Lynn Public Schools and is a faculty member of the Community Music Center of Boston.
